UAP Pharmacy Department Holds Industry Consultation on M. Pharm Marketing Syllabus

The Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) organized an industry consultation meeting on 25 February 2026 to review and update the proposed curriculum for the M. Pharm in Pharmaceutical Marketing program. The objective of the session was to ensure alignment with current pharmaceutical market requirements and to prepare graduates for professional roles in the industry.

Opening Address and Program Context

The session was chaired by Professor Zabun Nahar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy. In her welcome address, she extended gratitude to the invited marketing experts from leading pharmaceutical companies for their participation and requested their thorough review of the proposed syllabus. Professor Nahar provided an overview of the department's existing postgraduate offerings, including M. Pharm programs in Pharmaceutical Technology and Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmacology. The delegation visited the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Cyberjaya, for a pivotal partnership meeting. The team was hosted by Dr. Nurul Adilla @ Hayat Jamaluddin, Deputy Dean, and Masro Mohamad, Deputy Dean (Student Affairs & Networking), along with Heads of various pharmacy departments.

Seminar on "Leading Edge in Pharmacy Education, Assessment and Future Opportunities"

The Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), hosted a distinguished seminar titled "Leading Edge in Pharmacy Education, Assessment and Future Opportunities for UAP to become Excellent in Pharmacy Education" on 12th November 2025.

The keynote speaker, Dr. Imran Ahmed, Executive Director, Research and Development at American Regent, Inc., shared an insightful presentation focusing on a systemic approach to strengthen UAP's position as a leader in advanced pharmacy education and research. The session was graced by Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor, and Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean, School of Pharmacy. The seminar was presided over by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head, Department of Pharmacy.

Dr. Ahmed, who has an exceptional career across leading global pharmaceutical companies including Pfizer, Novartis, Alcon, and Alcami, emphasized the mission of the department to align with UAP's vision of being "Committed to Excellence" through "Being Leaders and Building Leaders." With over 30 scientific publications and 5 patents, he illustrated how innovation and collaboration can transform academic pharmacy in Bangladesh.

He outlined the current state of UAP Pharmacy under three developmental stages—Maturing, Developing, and Emerging—and proposed strategies to advance infrastructure, foster industry-academia partnerships, and establish career counseling and placement services.

Highlighting the capability gap between current curricula and global industry trends, Dr. Ahmed recommended integrating Quality by Design (QbD) principles, enhancing faculty development, and introducing adaptive curricula that prepare students for emerging therapeutic fields. He also discussed prerequisites for launching a Pharm.D. program at UAP, emphasizing reskilling, facility expansion, and curriculum redesign.

Dr. Ahmed proposed a five-year roadmap aimed at achieving quick wins and sustainable excellence through:
• Integration of modern educational technologies
• Cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Structured research and faculty training programs
• Active partnership with international professional bodies like AABPS (American Association of Bangladeshi Pharmaceutical Scientists)

Both Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan and Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan commended Dr. Ahmed's strategic insights and encouraged further collaborative initiatives to implement his vision.

ECDC Hosts Leadership Seminar and Pharma Pitch-Off Grand Finale

The Entrepreneurship and Career Development Club (ECDC) of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) successfully organized two major events — a seminar titled "The Art of Professionalism for Future Leaders" and the Grand Finale of Pharma Pitch-Off — held at the UAP Auditorium on 20th October, Monday.

The seminar featured a keynote address by Md. Solaiman Kabir, Director (Training), UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd., who delivered an inspiring talk on professionalism, leadership, and career growth in the pharmaceutical sector. His insightful discussion captivated the audience and encouraged students to prepare themselves as confident and competent professionals.

Following the seminar, the Grand Finale of Pharma Pitch-Off showcased the creative marketing ideas and presentation skills of the finalists. The competition was judged by Prof. Dr. Irin Dewan, Department of Pharmacy, and A.H.M. Nazmul Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy, whose expert evaluation added immense value to the event.

The occasion was graced by Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiya, Pro-Vice Chancellor, UAP and Dean, School of Pharmacy, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head, Department of Pharmacy, whose presence and encouragement greatly inspired the participants and attendees.

Cerebral Combat Fun Debate Show

Pharmacy Debate and Public Speaking Club Hosted Cerebral Combat - A Fun Debate Show

The Pharmacy Debating and Public Speaking Club of the University of Asia Pacific organized a lively and laughter-filled event titled "Cerebral Combat" on 12 October at 5:00 PM in the UAP auditorium. The show was a humorous debate competition that brought together wit, creativity, and a healthy dose of fun.

A total of five teams, each made up of two participants, took the stage to showcase their debating skills in a lighthearted way. The participants impressed everyone with their quick comebacks and clever arguments. One debate became the highlight of the evening, sparking the best audience engagement and waves of laughter across the hall. The audience, filled with students and teachers from the Department of Pharmacy, thoroughly enjoyed the show from start to finish.

The event wrapped up with the Champion Team receiving a trophy, marking their victory with cheers and applause. The energy in the auditorium was palpable as participants and audience members alike celebrated the successful event.

The Chief Guest of the program was Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean, School of Pharmacy and Adviser to the Vice Chancellor. Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, along with other faculty members, also attended and encouraged the participants throughout the event.

Overall, "Cerebral Combat" turned out to be a joyful evening full of laughter, learning, and team spirit, providing a perfect break from the regular academic routine while showcasing the vibrant extracurricular culture within the Pharmacy Department.

Photography Workshop and Competition

Photophilic Lights Up UAP Pharmacy!

The Photography Club Photophilic of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), successfully organized a two-day Photography Workshop and Competition on 7–8 October 2025 (Tuesday and Wednesday). The event aimed to nurture the creative minds of pharmacy students and encourage them to explore the art of visual storytelling beyond their academic boundaries.

The workshop was conducted by Ashraful Awal Mishuk, a reputed faculty member of Pathshala South Asian Media Institute, whose engaging teaching style and deep insights into photography inspired participants throughout the sessions. The program was organized under the guidance of Professor Dr. Zabun Nahar and Mr. Ahmad Niaz Rahman, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy, UAP, who both played key roles in making the event a success.

On the first day, participants learned the fundamentals of composition in photography, exploring how angles, framing, and light can transform an image. The second day focused on photo editing techniques and the ethics of photography, helping students understand how responsible image-making enhances both creativity and credibility. The sessions also featured an interactive Q&A segment with fun prizes, which added a lively and engaging touch to the learning experience.

A photography contest accompanied the workshop, where participants submitted their works in two categories: Mobile Photography and Camera Photography. The best two entries from each category were selected by the instructor, and the winners were honored with prizes and certificates at the closing and prize-giving ceremony, attended by Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, who appreciated the students' enthusiasm and creativity.

UAP Observes World Pharmacists Day 2025 with Grand "Pharma Expo 3.0"

The Pharma Science Club (PSC) of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), hosted the third edition of Pharma Expo on September 25, 2025, to commemorate World Pharmacists Day under the global theme "Think Health, Think Pharmacist." The event underscored the indispensable role of pharmacists in modern healthcare and brought together students, faculty, and distinguished guests for a day of academic enrichment and community engagement.

The inaugural ceremony was honored by the presence of Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor of UAP, as the Chief Guest. The session was presided over by Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean, School of Pharmacy, while the Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy. Pharmacy Department Honors Eid-E-Milad-Un-Nabi with Spiritual Dua Mahfil

On September 21, 2025, the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific organized a spiritually enriching Dua Mahfil, featuring a "Hamd-Naat & Qirat Competition," in honor of Eid-E-Milad-Un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him). The event commenced with praises to Allah (SWT) and progressed with a profound discussion on the Seerah (life and teachings) of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

The ceremony was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy. In his remarks, Dr. Shahriar emphasized the importance of following the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and integrating them into all aspects of our lives to become better individuals. He also expressed his commitment to organizing more such meaningful programs in the future.

The attendees were privileged to have Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar as a judge in the program. Assistant Prof. Dr. Fatema-Tuz-Zohora, Assistant Prof. Md. Asadduzzaman, and Assistant Prof. Sadia Noor also served as honorable judges, with their thoughtful evaluations underscoring the competitive spirit of the event.

Faculty members and students from the Department of Pharmacy attended in large numbers, displaying immense enthusiasm throughout the program. The event was conducted under the continuous guidance of Assistant Prof. Md. Asadduzzaman and Assistant Prof. Ms. Ramisa Anjum, with encouragement from Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean of the School of Medicine.

The event was eloquently hosted by Arifa Tasnim Saria, a student of 2nd year 2nd semester of Department of Pharmacy. The closing remarks were delivered by Assistant Prof. Md. Asaduzzaman, whose insightful references to the Holy Quran and Hadith enriched the audience's understanding of Islamic teachings.

The competition featured powerful Quranic recitations by both male and female participants, making it a challenging task for the judges to select the winners due to the outstanding performances. The ceremony concluded with a prize-giving segment, followed by a heartfelt prayer for the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his family, and his companions.

This spiritually uplifting event successfully brought together the Pharmacy Department community in remembrance and celebration of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), fostering unity and spiritual growth among students and faculty alike.

Intra Department Football Tournament Spring 2025

Pharmacy Department Celebrates Sportsmanship with Intra Department Football Tournament

The Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) successfully organized the Intra Departmental Football Tournament Spring 2025 at the BUET Central Field Playground, Dhaka, from 18 to 19 September 2025. The tournament brought together teams from all eight semesters, who participated with great enthusiasm, sportsmanship, and passion for football.

The grand final was held on 19 September 2025, where Pharma Blaze faced off against Pharma Elites in an electrifying match that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. After a highly competitive game that ended in a draw, the winner was decided through a tense tiebreaker, with Pharma Elites (Batch 52) securing victory over Pharma Blaze (Batch 57) by 3 to 1 goal.

Md. Asif Mahmud Talukder of Pharma Elites was named Man of the Match for his decisive performance in the final, while Darul Jenan Showmik of Pharma Blaze earned the title of Man of the Tournament for his outstanding contributions and exceptional skills displayed throughout the event.

The final match was graced by the presence of the honorable Head of Department of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, who handed over the prizes to the winning and runner-up teams. Distinguished faculty members, including Prof. Dr. Zabun Nahar and Ms. Mahjabeen Gazi, were also present to cheer and encourage the students, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the tournament.

This exciting sporting event was successfully convened under the guidance of Mr. A. H. M. Nazmul Hasan (Convener) and Mr. Muhammad Ashraful Islam (Co-Convener). Their dedication, along with the enthusiastic support of faculty members and students, made the tournament a memorable success that will be cherished by all participants.

The event not only fostered healthy competition but also strengthened unity, bonding, and the spirit of sportsmanship among students of the Pharmacy Department, creating lasting memories and strengthening departmental camaraderie.

Exploring Marine Pharmacy: An Academic Expedition to Rangamati

The 51st batch of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific, embarked on an enriching study tour to Rangamati Science and Technology University from September 12 to 14, 2025. The tour witnessed unprecedented participation with a total of 60 students from both sections enthusiastically taking part in this academic expedition.

The faculty members accompanying the students were Mr. A. H. M. Nazmul Hasan, Assistant Professor; Mr. Mohammad Ashraful Islam, Assistant Professor; and Ms. Lamia Alam, Lecturer. Their guidance and mentorship ensured the academic success of this educational journey.

During the visit to Rangamati Science and Technology University, students and faculty members from both institutions engaged in productive exchanges regarding academic programs and research activities. The central focus was on marine pharmacy and its potential to play a pioneering role in future pharmaceutical advancements.

Beyond the academic sessions, the tour included visits to significant local landmarks including the majestic Kaptai Lake, breathtaking Shuvolong Waterfall, a serene Buddhist temple, and an indigenous tribal village. A unique lunch experience in the middle of the lake provided participants with an immersive cultural experience and deeper understanding of the local ambience.

The educational journey extended to Cox's Bazar, where students gained insights into coastal biodiversity and its pharmaceutical potential. Both teachers and students participated enthusiastically in all activities, maximizing the learning opportunities throughout the tour.

This collaborative initiative between the University of Asia Pacific and Rangamati Science and Technology University highlights the important role that the hill district of Rangamati and Cox's Bazar will play in the future of academic research and pharmaceutical exploration.

After three days of intensive learning and cultural exchange, all participants safely returned to Dhaka on the morning of September 15, 2025, enriched with new knowledge, experiences, and professional connections that will undoubtedly contribute to their academic and professional development in the field of pharmacy.

The Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) hosted an insightful seminar titled "From Prescription to Production: The Hospital Pharmacy Way" on July 31, 2025. This professional development event aimed to equip participants with essential skills to prepare themselves as competent hospital pharmacists.

We were honored to have Mohammad Ashrafur Rahman, Deputy Manager of Pharmacy at Square Hospitals Ltd., Dhaka, as our keynote speaker. With his wealth of experience in hospital pharmacy, Mr. Rahman delivered an engaging session that clearly and persuasively covered the transition from pharmaceuticals to hospital settings and patient service points.

The seminar was graced by the presence of our beloved students and faculty members from the Department of Pharmacy, who showed tremendous enthusiasm throughout the event. Mr. Rahman's presentation emphasized the importance of practical skills in hospital pharmacy, providing valuable tips to elevate professional competencies in this specialized field.

A lively Q&A session allowed attendees to delve deeper into the topic, share their experiences, and gain clarity on various aspects of hospital pharmacy practice.

The program was successfully organized under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, along with Prof. Dr. Swarnali Islam Khandaker, Ms. Ramisa Anjum (Assistant Professor), and Mr. Ahmed Niaz Rahman (Lecturer).
